It's my best friend every morning. Makes almost no noise, dependable, easy to clean and fantastic. I LOVE this machine. I bought it 10 years ago, and it's still making as good coffee as it did the first time.
But as it is now, only a cup can fit there and you can spoon the froth into cups- making enough for about 2 (maybe) lattes. But makes excellent coffee that stays hot for a long time. I would concur with the other fellow from Rochester- this machine is worth the price- the frothing mechanism is awesome and works consistently. So- all in all- I am very happy with it. Cannot pay this little for this type of machine with this capability. The 4 rather than 5 stars is because of the fact that if you have lots of folks to froth for- you will need to put more water in the reservoir (to create the steam) this is something I figured out by trial.and now when it doesnt froth, I just check the res- and sure enough, it needs more H2O.Also, I would like the spot under which the froth comes out to have more clearance (i.e. so I can put a big bucket there and leave it to froth on its own.
It is well designed and easy to use. It keeps coffee warm for hours, and with the flexibility of steamed milk, you have a variety of drink options. A really great product. The best coffee maker I have owned. I've tried a variety of moderatly priced coffee makers, but until now I was never satisfied.
The controls are elegantly implemented, the dripless carafe is brilliant (REALLY.FINALLY NO DRIP.). OK, we love coffee. I do not work for this company - but will definitely suggest their products in the future. and the steamer which originally was an indulgence is just too much fun. When we set it up there was a fitting on the steamer that was not sealing correctly - Capresso immediately sent us another entire body - it was just a painless great service experience. this is the first maker since our old Starbucks Barista version died that surpasses what we had - Braun, Cuisinart. Capresso makes a 500 model that doesn't have the steamer - I would suggest it also to save a few bucks.
The picture of the newer version looks like they may have improved that though. If you have skiddish animals or kids - take them out of the room because this thing sounds like a demonic death rattle when you're useing the milk frother/cleaner feature. I'm the type that will have a cup when I wake up and then maybe an hour or two later - and mine was considerably cooler then the first cup. I ABSOLUTELY hated the pieces parts that come with this maker. Holy heck it's loud and steamy. I know that an earlier opinion post said that it kept the coffee warmer then his Mr. Finally resorted to paper filters. There was enough about it that irritated me that I'll find another product.I hated that there wasn't a warmer under the carafe.
After using the Capresso CoffeeTEC for the last 5 years I finally had to replace the unit. One of my guests last year actually gave up and went for the 10 year old sanka I had next to the coffee grinds. This coffee maker is just tall enough to fit under the upper cupboards which means that when you want to fill it up with water you have to pull it out toward you which wasn't a huge inconvenience but it was bothersome at 5am - which exacerbates my grouchiness. If you have a taper coffee cup it never fits right in the little area. Why couldn't they engineer it better. Straws, spouts, plastic pieces - it's just all so confusing. One morning I woke up to water all over the counters and floor. It doesn't happen all the time but it sure makes a crazy mess in my kitchen with 10 cups of water leaking.
Oh one last thing. that made him more grouchy too. The on/off and other controls take some getting used to - so if you have guests be sure to leave them instructions if they happen to wake up before you. I never got the design of the frother area either. But hey - I got warm milk.
Unfortunatly as I said early it really didn't matter because I had to pull it out from the counter in order to fill it up with water. eeeek. The one thing I did love about the design of this coffee maker was that the filter was a push button/swing out design that was easy to use. I got it as a gift - so now that I've had to replace I'm not going to spend $200.00. I guess it could be just slightly more user friendly to get a cup of coffee.
The filter was hard to get back into the precise spot and I always fiddled with it after cleaning it. Coffee with a carafe warmer. I never could remember how to reconfigure and ultimately used parts for the milk warmer that I'm sure weren't intended for that use.
